PACIFIC ASSISTANCE DOGS SOCIETY (PADS) SPONSORSHIP
PADS Sponsorship
Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) has been changing lives by training and placing certified assistance dogs with clients for over 32 years, including clients with physical disabilities, hearing loss, and post traumatic stress. They are also placed with community care professionals that provide support in justice, counselling, health and educational fields.
In 2022, Predator Ridge sponsored a puppy with PADS and have formed a partnership with our local Okanagan chapter.
Through a naming contest within our community, our sponsored puppy is named “Birdie” and is being raised locally in Kelowna. Birdie (she/her) is pictured above at age 8-weeks.
Predator Ridge residents Lynne and Garry McKenzie have been involved as volunteers with the PADS program since 2017. You may have seen them around the community with their service dog in-training, Sonar, in her yellow and blue vest.
Sonar has been living and working with Lynne and Garry since she was an 11 week old puppy. As puppy raisers, their job is to help Sonar develop the necessary skills to move on to advanced training and work towards becoming a certified service dog or an accredited facility dog. As well as working on basic training, Sonar accompanies the McKenzies’ everywhere they go and is exposed to as many experiences as possible. Sonar is currently 23 months old and will soon move on to an advanced training program.
The McKenzies’ took on the challenge of raising a puppy. Predator Ridge took on the challenge of sponsoring a puppy. Now we challenge you to raise funds to name a puppy or even a whole litter!
PADS Okanagan is always looking for new people to get involved and/or donate at: PADS.ca/Okanagan or by emailing: brian@pads.ca. All donations are of course tax deductible!
