Predator Ridge figured three teams were better than one when it designed its new show home.
The Tommie judges agreed and chose the Ellison show home as a finalist for the gold Tommie in the excellence in single family detached home 500,000-$750,000 category, excellence in a showhome and excellence in kitchen design. Predator Ridge received eight silver Tommies this year.
“We have not entered in a few years,” said Jason Koverchuk, property specialist with Predator Ridge. “I think the last time we did, we won show home of the year.
“This is a new home plan and we really wanted to do something to incorporate all the different features from different homes that stand out at Predator Ridge.”
To ensure it did stand out, the company hired Poss Architecture from Aspen, and Kelly Deck Designs from Vancouver.
“They designed the home together. Then, our team that built it. The three teams together made the vision a reality.
While Poss focused on four-season, and indoor-and-outdoor, Deck, the former host of Take it Outside a HGTV show, added an urban flair that appeals to younger buyers.
“I think this is special because it represents a new genre of home at Predator Ridge,” Deck said. “It’s contemporary, easy to entertain in and very sophisticated. Our intention was to create a home that easily served the needs of an empty-nester demographic - lots of open space, great indoor-outdoor living and a welcoming aesthetic.”
The two-level Ellison showcases a unique West Coast fusion of mountain-inspired living spaces. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom 3,481 square feet home — one of the bigger homes at Predator — has luxurious finishes, including hardwood floors, granite and marble counters, warm floors, eight-feet interior doors, 10-foot ceilings, folding patio doors, and an abundance of outdoor living space. The home also has a study off the master bedroom and a media room.
Feedback from homeowners and prospective buyers helped shape the key features, which include expansive outdoor spaces, large patios and doors that slide wide open to invite in nature. The colour scheme was inspired by the winter and summer seasons at Predator Ridge. Warm greys and grassy fawns seen throughout the winter landscape were accented by furnishing in rich, summer greens and rusts.
Koverchuk said Predator Ridge hopes to open a new neighbourhood next year with 60-80 home sites and the Ellison will be the star.
“Some people are already taking elements of this home into their own custom designs. What inspires me the most is to see the reaction (of prospective buyers). We have a parade of showhomes, but people come back and say, I love the last one, I could just move in.
And someone soon will. “We just sold it. We do such a job on the show homes, we can’t keep them.”
