Mountain Biking Skills Clinics

Join PMBIA certified instructor Brett Woods for a series of mountain bike development sessions at Predator Ridge.

These 4 week programs start with the foundation of body and bike awareness. Each class builds upon the skills learned in earlier sessions and allows for individual practice between sessions.  Each program includes basic bike maintenance, trail etiquette and being prepared for your trail adventures.  Each class may consist of both off and on trail riding and learning opportunities.

  • Location: The trail system at Predator Ridge – meeting location TBA
  • Participants: minimum 3 students | maximum 5
  • Sessions: 4
  • Two levels available
  • Cost: $225 (* plus NOCS Membership)

LEVEL 1: Mondays @ 5:00pm – 6:30 pm

DATES:  September 10, 17, 24 & October 1

PERFECT FOR:  Riders that are new to mountain biking but can ride a bike and may have some trail riding experience - typically on smooth, wide open trails, gravel paths or roads. Will typically dismount when encountering small obstacles or hills on the trail.


  • Build confidence and see progression to open up new riding territory and trails
  • Learn skills to help you build your base and learn the fundamental skills of:
    • Gearing and braking
    • Cornering
    • Stay on your bike while riding over small roots, rocks and trail undulations (generally 10cm or less)
    • Climb and descend gentle hills
  • Requirements:
    • Mountain bike - in good working order
    • Good fitting helmet
    • Be able to carry own water
    • Weather appropriate clothing and supplies
    • Look forward practicing skills, riding and having fun on and off the trail

LEVEL 2: Wednesdays @ 9:00am – 10:30am

DATES:  September 12, 19, 26 & October 3

PERFECT FOR:  Riders that have some trail riding experience but want to become more confident riding trail sections that have bigger challenges including larger grade changes, roots, rocks and other features. Ideally a rider that has been through the level 1 course or is already comfortable riding, easier, singletrack trails.


  • Learn skills to help:
    • Build and strengthen your fundamental skills
    • Keep an efficient cadence
    • Make it up steeper climbs and become more confident on the way down.
    • Cornering
  • Requirements:
    • Mountain bike - in good working order
    • Good fitting helmet
    • Be able to carry own water
    • Weather appropriate clothing and supplies


*IMPORTANT NOTE: You must be a current North Okanagan Cycling Society (NOCS) Member to participate in these sessions.  Membership can be purchased via the NOCS website for $28 and if you sign up for one of these sessions, you will receive a 20% discount on your membership. After you register for one of these sessions, you will be provided with a discount code. Use the code when you sign up online with NOCS to receive a 20% discount (does not apply to family memberships). Bring proof of membership to your first session/group ride.
