A NOTE FROM BRAD PELLETIER

Dear Valued Homeowners & Members

On behalf of the entire Predator Ridge team, I want to sincerely thank you for your support and loyalty over the last few weeks, as we work so hard to adjust through all of the challenges we've all been facing.

As I've said before, there is no playbook to follow. As things change daily, we are using the best of our abilities to put initiatives in place to accommodate your needs and protect our community through this challenging time. The health and safety of our residents and our valued employees continues to be the top priority for our organization and destination.

We are committed to preserving everything you love about Predator Ridge and are excited to launch some new initiatives over the next few weeks geared around keeping your most loved Predator Ridge franchises alive, including:

♦ MUSIC ON YOUR PATIO. Our popular weekly live music events are back in a new format for you to enjoy at home. Starting THIS Saturday (April 4), tune into our Facebook channel at 7:00pm for a live concert from a local Okanagan musician. Every week, we will feature a different local musician from our regular Music on the Patio roster. Stay tuned as we also have some BIG surprises in store!

♦ FRIDAY NIGHT FLIGHTS. Starting next Friday, our sommelier Melissa Van der Walle will be coming at you live in your living room to talk everything wine. She will give you tasting notes and more on a variety of different wines available in Commonage Market.  Check your email early next week for advance notice of the wines she'll be covering, so you have the chance to follow along with her from home.

♦ VIRTUAL COOKING CLASSES. We're working with our team of chef's to bring you some virtual cooking classes right in your kitchen.  Stay tuned for more details!

Through all of these initiatives, we are trying to keep things as normal as possible and continue the Predator Ridge lifestyle you are accustomed to. Our focus remains on how we can make this a better place for you, our residents.  We are just getting started. I would like to encourage you to share ideas, feedback and your daily greetings to keep the momentum of unity we are building in our community.

Your positive feedback has helped motivate our team more than you will know and for that I sincerely thank you. This isn't easy on any of us. Let's continue to support each other and we will come through this stronger!

Sincerely,

Brad Pelletier
Senior Vice-President, Okanagan

GOLF OPERATIONS UPDATE

Amid the growing concern and recent updates from Golf Canada, BC Golf and our Minister of Health, our golf courses and practice facility will remain closed until further notice. The well-being of our membership and staff are of paramount importance and take on even greater significance during this time.

Be assured that our goal is have the golf courses operating as soon as possible and our priority is you, our membership. We understand and share your love for the game however, we must make changes to protect your well-being and the health and welfare of our employees and this entire community.

Although we are closed and do not have an official opening date, the golf courses still need to be maintained and prepared for the day we can re-open. We understand and respect that our courses need to open in great condition to ensure you, the member, still receive a great experience.

There is no doubt that our business, along with thousands of others, has been greatly impacted by Covid-19. During this time of worldwide layoffs we are still committed to maintaining our community, our golf courses and retaining as many staff as possible. We had to make the decision to lay off some of our work force. This is never an easy conversation to have however in line with some of the best companies in the world, we are offering our staff 2 weeks’ severance pay prior to their official layoff dates.

We also understand that this pandemic has had a financial impact on you. In response to that we are pleased to do our part to help you through this time. As you know on April 1st, your accounts are billed for the season’s annual dues. Although most clubs are charging full dues, we have made the decision to charge you 50% of your annual dues on April 1st. Once we determine our official opening day we will then work on a prorating program that makes the most sense for the time remaining.

Please find the below schedule and pricing:

FIRST DUES PAYMENT: April 1
- Accounts will be charged 50% of the posted annual dues
- Individual Dues = $4,400 / 2 = $2,200 plus GST
- Couples Dues = $7,950 / 2 = $3,975 plus GST
- Golf Canada Handicap fee of $42 per member will also be charged

SECOND DUES PAYMENT: TBD
- Prorated amounts and how they will be distributed will come at a later date

If you are currently on a monthly dues schedule where you pay month to month, we are putting that program on hold. All dues paying members will be charged 50% of the annual dues on April 1st. Monthly dues schedules will not be in effect for 2020.

Please note, topics surrounding Covid-19 as well and national mandates are changing daily. If we need to adapt or change anything then we will of course revisit the above dues plan. We ask that as a member, you support the club. Our courses still need to be maintained and the costs to run this facility do not go away during this time. We all need to do our part to ensure our property comes out of this in the best way possible.

We are busy working on getting our golf shop ready and are still hoping to be able to offer you a private shopping experience. More information on this initiative will come over the following weeks. We are certainly trying to stay optimistic for the upcoming golf season however we have never lived through a global event like this. As a member of this club, we need your support to ensure our club and community comes out of this in the best possible way. We have a responsibility to your health and take that very seriously.

Thank you for your support during this time and we wish you and your family the best over the coming weeks.

Director of Golf

TURF CARE UPDATE

With winter coming to a close, we are finally starting to see some grass again…slowly. It was a busy winter for the turf crew. We had some early ice on specific greens form that we had to expose to minimize the chance of winter kill. We were able to get rid of the ice, but did create some minimal damage during the event. This was a necessary evil that ensured our greens could “breathe” through the winter. We will be able to get those areas fixed and running true by the first week in April.

Winter up at Predator Ridge seems to be hanging on, as I saw some golf courses open in Kelowna, we still had 18” of hard packed snow on some of our shaded greens! Needless to say, we had very different definitions of greens being “firm and fast”. The extra snow we had at our elevation and cold overnight temperatures has really slowed our start. The estimated starting date of April 8, would have been a very tight timeline for the snow to melt and leave us enough time to prep the course. A delay would have been necessary to get everyone on the golf course again.

With what looks like a late start to the golf season, the turf crew is committed to ensure playing conditions are up to its high standards when golf reconvenes. We left the fall season with some great projects completed and cleaned up; all we will need is some weather to get things growing again.

Thank you,

Michael Long
Golf Course Superintendent

COMMONS RACQUET CLUB UPDATE

Amid the growing concern and recent updates from Tennis Canada, Tennis BC and our Minister of Health, Commons Racquet Club will remain closed until further notice. The wellbeing of our membership and staff are of paramount importance and take on even greater significance during this time.

Be assured that our goal is to have Commons Racquet Club operating as soon as possible. We understand and share your love for the game, however, we must protect your wellbeing and the health and welfare of our employees and this entire community.

There is no doubt that our business, along with thousands of others, has been greatly impacted by COVID-19. During this time of worldwide layoffs, we are committed to maintaining our community, golf course and racquet club while retaining as many staff as possible. We unfortunately had to make the hard decision to layoff some of our workforce. This is never an easy conversation to have; however, in line with some of the best companies in the world, we are offering our staff two weeks severance pay prior to their official layoff dates.

We also understand that this pandemic has had a financial impact on you. In response, we will be adding time onto your membership equal to the duration of the closure.

We will continue to reevaluate the situation week-by-week and will provide updates regularly.  It is important to have your continued support so that we can re-open without any hiccups and continue to provide the high standard quality programs and lessons you are accustomed to. If you have any questions, we invite you to send all inquiries through to Carmen at clindsay@predatorridge.com.  We will ensure you receive a response as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Joachim Nierfeld

IMPORTANT NOTICES

♦ COFFEE BAG WIRES NEEDED!
There is a group of Predator Ridge residents who are volunteering to sew cotton face masks for the elderly as well as for locals in the community.  They have discovered that the best nose clip for the masks are wires from coffee bags.  They are currently asking anyone that has any of these wires to drop them off at 157 Mashie Crescent.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Alanna Petrusich at: joeandalanna@yahoo.com

♦  HIKING TRAIL NOTICE
Our Lifestyle & Recreation team is asking for your assistance in staying off of any Predator Ridge trail that is in muddy condition.  We are trying to avoid tire and/or foot impressions on the trails, which will ensure that our trails are in great condition for the rest of the year.  Please reference and abide by the signs which have been placed at the heads of various trails. Please also note that all BC Parks have been closed.  This includes both Ellison and Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

♦  OUTDOOR PLAYGROUND CLOSURES
Please note that all Predator Ridge outdoor playgrounds have been closed due to recommendations by provincial and federal health authorities.

♦  OUTDOOR TENNIS COURTS
Our PRCLA and Commons Racquet Club outdoor courts are open for all residents who wish to get out to play, in an outdoor environment. Courts are open for play between persons of the same household only.  Please limit use and adhere to social distancing standards and respect your neighbours and community.

♦  DEBIT & CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ONLY
As a preventive hygiene measure, we have transitioned all payments in Commonage Market and Pallino's to no longer accept cash transactions. Only credit and debit cards are now being accepted, with tap preferred.  Please be assured that our payment terminals will be disinfected between each payment transaction. Members with active accounts set up, may also charge to their Predator Ridge accounts.
