Welcome to Winter
With winter nearly upon us, we wanted to extend a friendly reminder to prepare and keep yourself safe in the colder season. Take extra time when travelling, use extra caution when walking and make sure you have the right equipment for your outing. With the slightly higher elevation above the lakes and icing being a common occurrence, we recommend good winter tires for your car and sturdy footwear or grippers when walking.
Predator Ridge is within the city of Vernon and most roads are maintained to a higher standard than is mandated and seen in other residential neighbourhoods within the city. However, snow removal is an imperfect science so being ready for less than ideal conditions is necessary.
With the success that the resident Commonage Road Committee made with their lobbying with the Ministry of Transportation for a up classification of Commonage road, we are anticipating a higher level of service on the Commonage this season.
NEW SHUTTLE SERVICE TO 50TH PARALLEL ESTATE WINERY
Enjoy a dinner at our neighbour 50th Parallel Estate's new restaurant Block One. On Thursday & Sundays they offer free dinner shuttles to and from Predator Ridge with complimentary tastings.
Reservations are required for shuttle service and can be made by phone at: 250.766.3408 x 1.
One of Canada's best blues guitarists is coming to Vernon next month.
Jack Semple grew up on a farm north of Regina, Saskatchewan. He started his musical career playing with various Regina-based bands, and later relocated to Toronto in the late 1980s to become the lead guitarist of The Lincolns, a popular funk and rhythm and blues band. He left the band after two years and returned to Regina to pursue a solo career and to spend more time with his family.
After his move back to Regina, Semple contributed to television and music scores and appeared in the title role of Guitarman, a 1994 television movie. Semple also commenced a solo recording career that has resulted in the release of ten albums. In 1992, Semple came to national prominence through winning the MuchMusic "Guitar Wars" contest.
Semple has been twice nominated, in 1999 and 2000, for a Gemini Award for his soundtrack work on the television series Incredible Story Studio. Semple won a Juno award in 1991 for best roots recording. He has won two Western Canadian music awards for "Qu'Appelle" and "In the Blue Light". Semple continues to perform as a solo artist and with The Jack Semple Band, across Canada and now being championed across America!
DATE: Friday, January 18, 2019 WHERE: The Vernon Lodge (3914 32nd Street, Vernon) TIME: Doors open at 6:30pm, concert at 7:30pm
Food and beverages will be available at the show, so please arrive early and hungry!
