Dear Valued Homeowners & Members,

With July now upon us, we are delighted to continue to welcome back even more of our normal lifestyle here at Predator Ridge.

As we journey through our third phase of reopening, we want to assure you that we are continuing to take the same careful approach as we have been doing over the past few months.  Our strategy across the entire resort is a built around a controlled and measured approach to managing our business. We are mitigating risks by implementing safety protocols throughout all business units, managing volume levels, and as a result we are confident that we are safely delivering a guest experience that benefits us all.

Interested in learning more about our COVID-19 protocols? We have all of our operational plans live on our website at: PredatorRidge.com/COVID-19

We are also excited to continue to welcome back many of the programs that you have grown to love over the years including Bocce, Wine Pairing Dinners, Music on the Patio and the reopening of Pallino's.  We put a lot of thought into what we did for you during our closing and we are putting even more thought, time and strategy behind our events this summer.

On behalf of the entire Predator Ridge team, I want to sincerely thank you for your support and loyalty.  You continue to motivate our entire team and I am truly proud to be a part of one of the strongest communities in Canada.

Homeowner Golf Cart Usage

Dear Homeowner,

We are sending this as a reminder to those of you who have a personal use cart, or are considering buying one. As an organization we have been very vocal and at the forefront with government dialogues to allow appropriate cart usage in communities like Predator Ridge. We also recognize the significant safety and associated financial risk associated with both resort and personal use carts.

The purpose of this information is to educate you on vehicle requirements and operation in BC. A few key things to note:

  • Usage guidelines are set out by the provincial government.
  • Predator Ridge roads are public.
  • “Policing” is done according to municipal bylaws.

Predator Ridge’s focus is cart use on the golf course lands or any usage involving resort guests. We will follow up on any issue that involve our rental fleet of carts. Please contact us at (250) 503-3588 if you see anyone using our cart in an unsafe manner. We ask homeowner to model and encourage appropriate private cart use at all times. Should a problem arise Strata councils, The City of Vernon bylaw department or the RCMP are also avenues for resolution.

There are two types of cart vehicles:

  1. Golf Carts. Golf Carts are not permitted on roadways and highways outside of approved areas. Use of Golf Carts on public roads is illegal.
  2. Neighbourhood Zero Emissions Vehicles. Often referred to as Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) or Neighbourhood Golf Carts, NSEV’s are permitted on roads where the speed limit does not exceed 40 km/h. NOTE: All speed limits within Predator Ridge for all vehicles, including carts is 30 km/h.

All Neighbourhood Zero Emission Vehicles must have 2 - 4 seats, a steering wheel, service brakes and parking or emergency brakes, a rear-view mirror, a horn, good quality tires, day time running lights, turn signals and brake light, reflectors and seatbelts. They are subject to the same rules and regulations as motor vehicles and must:

  • Be insured through ICBC
  • Have a permit issued by the municipality
  • Be operated by a licensed driver
  • Not carry passengers under 9 years of age
  • Only be operated during daylight hours and when the roads are free of ice, snow and slush
  • Not exceed a 32 km/h speed rating (20 MPH)

NOTE: Drivers will not be covered for road accidents that cause injury or property damage. We ask that all cart drivers access and use the paths that are provided. You are permitted to cross a public road to access paths. Please be very aware of pedestrians, pets and cyclists, all of which have the right of way.

It is the responsibility of each homeowner to insure their personal cart.

Use on the Golf Course Lands
Personal golf carts are permitted for use on Predator Ridge’s two golf courses, provided you are registered to play golf at that particular time. Sightseeing later in the afternoon, while yielding to golfers, is permitted provided you are not interfering with the golf experience in any way. Unregistered use of the golf course is forbidden, even if you have an active membership. If you are wanting to play, please contact The Shop in advance, as we must account for every player on course.

Speed Restrictions
The Predator Ridge fleet carts are set to operate at a maximum speed of 19 km/h. There are a number of personal carts which are capable of speeds up to 50 km/h. The speed limit is 30 km/h throughout Predator Ridge for all vehicles.

A standard golf cart is designed for up to two passengers. Others are made for four and six passengers. It is in everyone’s best interest to ensure that we do not exceed the number of passengers the cart was designed for.

Underage Usage
Predator Ridge’s cart fleet requires every user to sign a waiver for liability and responsibility and that the operator is at least eighteen years of age with a valid drivers’ license. The BC government requires that the operator possesses a valid driver’s license.

Cart use is expanding as our community and the resort grows. These guidelines will become more and more important to make sure we are incident free and maintain the relaxed lifestyle we have all come to love.

Inspired Living Art Show

In Person Show @ the Commonage Ballroom - August 12 -13, 2020
Virtual Art Show - August 14 – 20, 2020

Predator Ridge is an amazing community that has done an exceptional job of helping to flatten the COVID-19 curve. We have worked together to keep COVID-19 out of Predator Ridge, and with strict protocols in place, the Inspired Living Art Group is pleased to bring the second annual Inspired Living Art Show on August 12 – 13, 2020 to the Commonage Ballroom.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe and we are working through the necessary protocols and processes to ensure we maintain social distancing, scheduling limited people at a time in the ballroom and stringent cleaning throughout the show.

We look forward to seeing you at our show but for those who are not ready to expand their social bubble, we will have a virtual show available at www.inspiredlivingart.com from August 14-20, 2020.

The Inspired Living art show is a homeowner-led event featuring residents at Predator Ridge who have been busy creating high calibre, original paintings, and glasswork. The jury has accepted over 100 pieces of art for display and sale. We are thrilled to announce our 2020 artists:

  • Deb Ackerman
  • Vania Burton
  • Katherine Coombs
  • Jill Devenish
  • Barbara Lindberg
  • Teyjah McAren
  • Martha Moore
  • Sue Porlier
  • Vicky Richardson
  • Colleen Scott
  • Emily Vollans
  • Lindsay Walsh
  • Debbie Young

We are also happy to welcome Lightening Rock Winery who will provide $5 glasses of wine at the show.

As a community we have supported our frontline workers and we appreciate the steps that Predator Ridge has taken on our behalf. COVID-19 has changed many things but it has not stopped spring from coming, it has not stopped neighbours helping neighbours and it has not stopped artists who can’t help but create. Please stay tuned for more details.

Thank you to Predator Ridge management, staff, and residents for your support.

From Allan Brooks Nature Centre

Allan Brooks Nature Centre Kicks Off An Auction For Four Exclusive Dining Events This Summer

During these challenging times, making connections with nature is more important than ever for the mental and physical health of children and adults. Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) needs your help to connect people with nature. The impacts and restrictions in place due to COVID-19 have prevented ABNC from hosting its three largest annual fundraisers – their gala and garage sales. With your financial support you can help ABNC to be here tomorrow, next month, next year and into the future for our community, our schools, the children and visitors.

ABNC has come up with enterprising fundraising alternatives that comply with the current Provincial pandemic restrictions. They are auctioning off 4 very special, private Dinner Under the Stars events based on a popular dinner piloted last summer. Each four-course dinner for 8 will be unique from the exceptional international chefs, to the finest cuisine, exquisite wine paired menus and entertainment, all held up at Allan Brook’s beautiful setting.

Envision four different themes and world class dining. Imagine a mouth-watering Moroccan meal in Marrakech that will tantalize your senses of smell and taste, while bringing you this North African country’s finest food. How about East Meets West cuisine? Imagine ending your meal with the best German pastry dessert?

One of last year’s attendees said, “the entire evening was magical with its panoramic views, savory food, gifted entertainment in a gorgeous natural grassland setting made for an enchanting evening! Absolutely priceless memory!!!”

Each will be a night to remember… wine, food and entertainment and the BEST VIEW IN VERNON! The only thing they don’t provide are shooting stars, but successful bidders might be lucky to see some!

If you’ve been feeling cooped up, and missing your friends, you are invited to indulge your senses by bidding on any or all of the dinner events. Each dinner will provide a rounded exclusive experience for you and your guests, all while helping Allan Brooks keep the doors open for local children in 2020.

The online auction runs from July 1-5. To see Dinner Under the Stars video and for more information about each meal; dates and times, as well as how to access the online auction site, please visit: www.abnc.ca/dinners.
