As key stakeholders in the Predator Ridge community, we wanted you to be the first to know about our new partnership with Kingfisher Heli; a boutique heli-ski operation based in Vernon.
Just announced for the 2018/19 ski season, Predator Ridge will be the winter base for Kingfisher operations and will position Kingfisher Heli as one of BC's most accessible all-inclusive heli-ski operations.
We are thrilled to add Kingfisher to our list of strategic partners and this is an important part of our commitment to make Predator Ridge a complete year round experience. Some of the key benefits we will see here this winter is Range Lounge & Grill open 5 nights/week, much more energy around the resort and exposure to our amazing community with Kingfisher's guests primarily from across the United States and Canada.
Predator Ridge will provide the launching pad, accommodations and personalized experience for all Kingfisher skiers and riders as they explore their massive 300,000 acres of Monashee powder, beautiful alpine bowls and some of the best tree skiing on the planet.
As part of this alliance, our Member Services building and driving range will be transformed for the winter into the Kingfisher Heli-base. Breakfast, lunch, après ski and dinner menus will be prepared by our talented F&B team.
One of the other benefits you'll see is Kingfisher will be offering exclusive deals to Predator Ridge residents on last minute heliskiing experiences to fill helicopters and not offered to the general public. Details of these offerings will be released at a later date.
Starting in November, Kingfisher will move its fleet of 4 helicopters to Predator Ridge to begin their training. Ski tours will begin in December. Helicopters will run twice daily between 8:30am and 9:00am for load up and then return between 3:30 and 4:00pm. The flight path will always be NE from the resort along the golf course at low level and helicopters will not fly over any houses or the resort itself. The helicopters will typically warm up for 3-5 minutes on the driving range, followed by about 2-3 minutes of guest loading time. Departure and arrivals will typically be about a minute on each end.
The Kingfisher fleet consists of 2 x B3E Astar Helicopters and 2 x B2 Astar Helicopters. Both types of helicopters exude 89 - 93 decibels at take off and 91.4 - 94.5 decibels on approach. To give you some comparison:
60 dB average conversations
78 dB city traffic
90 dB lawnmower or heavy truck
100 dB motorcycle
Due to the flightpath and the short helicopter noise times, we expect very little in the way noise disturbance and are truly excited for the changes this alliance will bring to our community.

We are excited to share details about our upcoming refresh project happening at Commonage Market this fall.
As per our recent addition of the Starbucks coffee experience, we will be furthering our offerings and working towards being a full service We Proudly Serve Starbucks™ location. This will include a full service Starbucks beverage outlet with an overall look and feel more along what you're used to seeing at Starbucks locations.
Starting October 25, our refresh project will commence and will run for 2-3 weeks. During the project, there will be no closures, but some of our services will be effected, including specialty coffees and warmed sandwiches. Our amazing staff will still be serving fresh drip coffee and teas, fresh baking, as well as lunch style wraps.
We are really excited for the changes this will bring and to take our coffee experience at Commonage Market to a whole new level. Stay tuned for more details of our grand re-opening event this November.

On behalf of the entire grounds crew, I wanted to take the time to say thank you for a great golf season.
We had a very interesting year from start to finish. Some of the challenges we encountered this season include:
- A late and heavy snow melt
- Cleaning up and completing huge drainage projects
- Trying to piece together an irrigation system broken from construction to feed the full golf course
- Working on the golf course refresh project, including trying to prep and open a very immature 4 golf holes
- Dealing with smoke.
- This was all done while trying to fill all of our operator positions, which we unfortunately we never did accomplish.
These items really kept us on our toes all year! A Fun Fact for You, the last piece of sod was laid less then 2 weeks before opening!
However despite the challenges, we had some great successes this season along with some great ideas on how to make things better next year.
We are currently hard at work with more drainage projects, irrigation projects, logging, replacing some faulty irrigation valves, topdressing fairways, and bunker detailing. The warm and dry fall has even let us get our “sweepy” beachcomber into some of the Predator course bunkers to remove stones.
The warm weather has also allowed a bonus week of play for our Members. Thanks to everyone for yielding to the grounds crew, starting on time and staying off the frosty holes. It really was a great bonus week of weather. I was expecting that keeping those holes open, we would have seen zero ball marks on the greens, unfortunately that was not the case...maybe next year we can have another crack at 0 ball marks and replacing divots.
Thanks again and I wish you all a fantastic winter. See you next April!

The Holidays are just around the corner and we've got some great events planned to help you celebrate
As the season comes to an end we are so proud of the efforts for FireSmart this season. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped with the clean-up events to help clean up our forest areas. Also a HUGE thank you to all the volunteer committee members for their continued efforts to organize events, grant application submissions, report submissions to COV and FireSmart Canada, ensuring we meet/ pass the requirements for being a FireSmart community and most importantly for continuing to invest your time to keep our residents safe.
The last FireSmart event took place on Sept 29th and it was a HUGE success we had aprox 33 Volunteers assist in the clean-up event. We continued to clean up the area on Longspoon Drive just past the Osprey Green Townhomes. It was amazing to see how much we pulled out of the forests again. Below are some pictures from the event.
Although our season for events is over, FireSmart planning will continue through the winter months to ensure we can continue work-bee events to better the community. If you are interested in joining the committee to learn more about FireSmart and help with planning please contact the FireSmart committee at firstname.lastname@example.org
Winner of Indigenous Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards that were held in Kelowna, the Vernon Folk Roots Music Society is proud to present Celeigh Cardinal.
Celeigh is a prairie girl through and through. Her heartfelt, biographical songs are carried by a voice that harkens to the golden era of jazz and blues. This Métis singer/songwriter is easily one of the finest vocalists to hail from the Peace Country.
A Celeigh Cardinal performance is a profound, soulful triumph of songs that blend roots, folk, rock and pop. Her voice at once evokes a gentleness and control which can turn to raucous, gut wrenching, twisted, turn-yourself-inside-out blues within a single phrase. She is a passionate performer who can draw an emotional response with her deliberate words and rich contralto voice. She is currently based out of Edmonton, Alberta and continues to perform alongside her duo, trio and with her band.
